Keyword your way to Success!

You may have heard it over and over again how important keywords are to your online business success. Keywords can be one word or a grouping of words that best describes your product, service or market niche.

Keyword tools provide a great way to build your keyword list with ease. Researching your keywords takes time. However, the more time you put into obtaining your keywords, you will be rewarded in the end. Most keyword tools are free. Some offer upgrades that may be a benefit to you and your business. Which ever tool you decide to use, make sure the tool provides enough information so that you understand how sourcing and choosing your keywords is a process you understand.

Once you have your list of keywords, put them into action. The following are the top 4 areas you should consider utilizing your keywords:

URL's - Domain Names

When deciding on your domain or site name for your blog or website, consider referring to your keyword list. Use your top keywords first and only working down to your other keywords when those words are not available.

Research your proposed domain name by searching on Google or other search sites for other sites similar to yours and to determine their ranking. Adding other keywords to create a longer domain name use to be considered not a good thing to do. But as the internet continues to grow, and as other sites gobble up market niche keywords, longer domain or site URL's are becoming more acceptable. After all, it really isn't just the URL that will get your ranked higher with the search engines. There is a lot more SEO (Search Engine Optimization) that is required these days to get your new site to top rankings.

Obtaining multiple URL's or domain names should be considered but not necessary when first starting out. Multiple domain names would be advised when growing your business or to protect your URL name by choosing the same name with a different extension i.e., domainname.net, domainname.info, etc. Additional domain names are also used for testing how visitors will react to your website and sales pages.

Article Titles

Growing your online business with article marketing is important to increase traffic to your blog or site. Use your keywords to create article titles. This is a great way to give you ideas of what to write about.

Search for titles using your keywords for popularity, trends and ranking. Visit top article sites like ezinearticles.com to further research title that are popular with readers and that are within your keyword range.

Stay current with today's news, magazines and other formats that pertain to your market niche. This is a great way to understand what people are searching for or what information they want.

Use two to three of your key words in your article titles. Then sprinkle those same keywords within the article so that it is related to what you are discussing. Never copy others titles or formats. There are plenty of ways to say the same thing and will keep you out of any copy write issues.

Anchor Text

Writing articles or posts is a great way to share free information, knowledge and experience with potential visitors. Visitors enjoy being guided along with other information you can share with them. By this, I mean, refer them to your site or to another article or post that compliments your information that you are giving to your visitors. You can do this through 'anchor text'.

Anchor text is a word or group of words that are linked to another site leading your visitors to more information. The anchor text should always be your keywords as search engines will take notice and generally help you to get a higher ranking. Why? Because you are showing that you are truly concerned about giving good quality content to your readers and NOT selling to them. Bringing value to your visitors is seen by the search engines in a very positive way.

Anchor text can be in the form of a string of words that are clickable or can also be the domain or URL to another site. Just be sure the anchor text does take your visitor to a related site of information, otherwise, if you are taking them to a whole different site that is trying to sell something, your ranking could be affected negatively.

Blog Posts

Blog posts are similar to articles in that they provide information to your visitor. Generally blog posts are shorter and allow your visitors to leave comments or suggestions.

Setting up your blog should always have your keywords in mind. A successful blog requires good SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques. Utilizing your keywords is a great way to set up the categories or page of your blog. For instance, if your product is Dog Grooming, you may have categories of Show Dog Grooming, Grooming the Family Dog, etc. They should represent your keywords and of course make sense too!

Blog posts relating to each of these categories, good content to your reader and using your keywords within the post is an ideal way to get the attention of the search engines. Posting on a regular basis and encouraging your visitors to make comments is also key.

Your blog should be the 'hub' of your business. Showing your visitors who you are by the information you share. Asking them to interact with you will lead your visitor to become a customer. Now that is what growing an online business is all about! Visitors will find you through keywords, referrals, and other social networks as you share your blog posts.

Your keywords are not only important to blogs and sites, they also describe who & what you are to your visitors. Growing and branding you, your service or products can be achieved in many ways. But keywords will play a very important role in getting you noticed with search engines and your visitors!
